Guest Visits: A Homecoming for Jules Ma’am

“Do you remember Jules Takagishi Ma’am? She’s coming back to Singapore for a short trip!” Memories of trainings at the old Dojang years ago came flooding back. Jules Ma’am (who holds the ‘record’ of training the most number of hours per week), as I can recall, was an assistant instructor with passion and zest second to none.

She came back with even more energy on 23rd January 2014 for a training session lasting more than two hours jammed packed with exercises, sparring, tuls and games.

After reciting the tenets of Taekwon-Do and Student’s Oath, training kick started with variations of skipping which made most of us warmed up very quickly. Following that, we moved on to stretching, exercises and kicking drills.

After a short water break, we geared up for a sparring session where everyone had a chance to spar with Jules Ma’am. It was truly a memorable and educational experience sparring with her! Her stamina was superb!

We then proceeded to practicing tuls. Subsequently, we did the progression of kicks (front snap, turning, side piercing and back piercing) and some variations of push-ups before ending the training with a short but energy draining game of freeze and melt.

We ended the night with supper at a restaurant near the Dojang. We did the ‘Lo Hei’ to usher in the Lunar New Year for prosperity. We were happy that Mr. Kelvin Goh, a veteran member of ITC, was able to join us for supper. (We definitely hope to see you more often Sir!)

Overall, it was a great evening well spent sweating it out with our fellow ITC family member. On behalf of ITC, we would like to thank Jules Ma’am for making the time to train with us despite your busy work schedule. We hope you have a safe journey back to Japan and see you very soon!
