Master Gordon Jue & his family visit Singapore on the 9th July 2013.
As part of their post-2nd ITF Asia Taekwon-Do Championship activities, President of Jue’s Taekwon-Do – Master Gordon Jue and his family travelled down to Singapore for a 3 day vacation. Master Sng and members of Island Taekwon-Do Centre were honoured to play host to the Jue family from California, USA, for a day.
While Shaun Sir kindly went to pick our guests up at their hotel, 5 of us (Master Sng, Carnation Mdm, Justina Mdm, Gavin Sir and myself) met at Soup Restaurant @ Nex at noon. Initially, some of us were quiet but we soon broke the ice and got to know each other better as we partook in the courses. After the sumptuous and filling lunch, we took a short walk around the shopping centre which helped to speed up the digestion process! It was also a good experience for Master Jue and his family to immerse themselves in the day to day lives of Singaporeans.
At around 2.30pm, Shaun Sir and Gavin Sir bade farewell to our guests as they had to return to their respective commitments. The rest of us then took the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit, Singapore’s train service) with our guests to Marina Bay Sands to enjoy the scenic view of the Singapore skyline from the Sky Park that it boasts. Despite the wet weather, the view was superb! We even had a comical moment when strands of our hair rose high due to static electricity. I’m sure that Master Jue and his family enjoyed the view as much as we did!
We had another train ride to pick up Master Sng’s car, before bringing our guests on a short tour around Chinatown. Subsequently, we sent our guests back to the hotel for their personal plans in the evening.
As much as we would love to spend more time with them, we bade each other farewell and conveyed hopes that Master Jue and his family would visit Singapore again soon, and better still, share a Taekwon-Do training session with us!
On a side note, I would like to specially thank my Aunt Evelyn for making the trip to the Sky Park possible.
