Mr. Bathi is a 6th Degree Black Belt in International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) Taekwon-Do, and the Founder and President of the Malaysia Kickboxing Federation (WKA).
During his short visit to ITC, Mr. Bathi provided the students at ITC with an introduction in kickboxing. He explained that kickboxing is a sport derived from western boxing and oriental martial arts.
Mr. Bathi taught ITC students the basic punches and kicks used in kickboxing, and showed the various situations in which the different punches and kicks are applied in a sparring setting.
He also mentioned the similarities between kickboxing and Taekwon-Do, explaining how certain principles in kickboxing are also applicable to ITF Taekwon-Do sparring during competitions. Mr. Bathi later led the class through a series of kickboxing drills, allowing ITC members to experience kickboxing drills and consolidate the basic kickboxing techniques that they had learnt. Mr. Bathi’s visit ended with a photo taking session with the ITC members.
Mr. Bathi’s visit has enlightened the ITC members on kickboxing, which most ITC members did not have exposure to prior to this session. The short session on kickboxing has also brought out various important sparring principles, which are very applicable to Taekwon-Do sparring.
I would like to thank Mr. Bathi for taking time to visit to ITC and for conducting the introduction to kickboxing.
