It was over the weekend of the last 2 days of Chinese New Year, 27th and 28th of February, Island Taekwon-Do Centre (ITC) had set up a booth at Far East Plaza’s Korean Fair.

There were over 40 stalls, consisting of Korean fashion clothes, Korean food, nail art, Korean facial products, soft toys and you could even learn how to speak Korean from the first Korean language centre in Singapore.

The ITC members who helped out dealt with many individuals from all walks of life. We met others who practiced the different styles of Taekwon-Do. It was interesting finding out from them their personal experiences on how they felt about the martial art. It was good exposure. We not only learn from those who learn Taekwon-Do, but also from individuals who learnt other martial arts like boxing and silat.

Through the conversations, we learnt some pointers and information about other martial arts we never knew, this helped in gaining insights and general knowledge.

Other stall owners also patronized our booth to find out more about ITF Taekwon-Do. We had little children standing in front of the television in awe of the demonstration video we played at the booth. Some adults had stopped to watch and were engrossed in the video as well.

I would like to say special thanks to Island Taekwon-Do for giving us the opportunity to promote ITF Taekwon-Do to others in Singapore through this Korean Fair and to meet other martial artists as well. Also, special thanks to those who took the time to visit us and spent time mending the booth. It was through everyone’s support that made it a wonderful experience.

Remember, ITF Taekwon-Do is never too old for anyone!
