Date: 22 March 2008, Venue: Park Royal Hotel
When I arrived, I exchanged greetings with the early birds. I always find that ITC’s members are very friendly and everyone made me feel welcome at the event.
Sir gave a speech, and he shared some philosophy with us that I felt had a lot of meaning and definitely would remember it in my trainings.
The dinner started after the speeches, and was accompanied by impressive performances by some of the club’s members themselves, which included singing, dancing, and even playing musical instruments!
I remember Mr Martin’s comment, ‘It is so amazing to see the ITC members playing music with their hands which are normally used to punch and smash, and beautiful singing voices replacing the loud Ki-Haps in class!’
Afterwards, the lucky draw began, there were many prizes, from boxing gloves to iPods. Everyone seemed very happy and excited at this, especially the winners!
I think the event was a complete success, and very honoured to be a part of it. The ITC members that make up the club are from all different backgrounds and walks of life, but come together as one for the love of the martial art. My instructor in UK taught me, “Doing Taekwon-Do for sport or fitness will not last you long, but doing Taekwon-Do as a martial art is something you can do for life. Taekwon-Do is not just a sport, it is a way of life,” and I am glad that this Dinner represents exactly that.
